Breakfast Foods that Start with N

1. Naan

2. New Orleans Beignet

Love doughnuts with your coffee for breakfast? These are even better. The French influence in New Orleans is most evident in its cuisine. Sweet dough fried and sprinkled with confectioner’s sugar allows us to enjoy the taste of Mardi Gras any time of year. Yum!

3. No Knead Bread

Bread has been a staple for millenniums, and it doesn’t look like our love affair with it will be ending any time soon. Would you like the smell and taste of homemade bread but have no time to make it? This super-easy recipe with simple ingredients is the perfect solution.

4. Natto

This one is acquired taste; some compare it to blue cheese. It’s not everyone’s favorite, but those that love it can’t live without it. Fermented soybeans in Japan are actually eaten for breakfast. Experts claim that fermented foods are important for our health, so this may be a good place to start.

Delicious Snacks that Start with N

5. Nachos

The most obvious food that starts with N, and the first one that came to my mind, is nachos. One of the best things about them is how they are super easy and fast they are to make. Just pile some tortilla chips on a baking sheet, drizzle some nacho cheese sauce over the top, and then top them with more yummy stuff. I love to serve them with my Homemade Guacamole.

6. Navel Oranges

7. Nashi Pear

Asian pear, apple pear (due to its shape), Japanese pear, doesn’t really matter what you call it; a pear by any other name is still a pear. This particular fruit is crisp, firm, and juicy, making it perfect for eating fresh or cooking. It’s also high in fiber and nutrition, so it’s a good snack or dessert.

8. Nectarines

I had always considered nectarines to be naked peaches, which they actually are, genetically speaking. Their flavor is slightly different from a peach, but that doesn’t have to stop you from replacing peaches with them in any recipe.

9. Nori

Seaplants are typical of Asian food. Nori, actually a type of algae, is the dark green sheet surrounding sticky rice, seafood, and fresh veggies in sushi. It’s highly nutritious and has a unique taste that reminds me of the ocean.

10. Nuggets

11. Nutella

12. Nuts

Soups and Salads that Start with N

17. Nasturtiums

14. Navy Beans

What can I say? Navy beans are smaller than white beans but are a good replacement in almost any recipe.  They are perfect in this incredible Ham and Bean Soup, perfect in Southern Baked Beans, spectacular in Avocado White Bean Tuna Salad, and mouthwatering in my favorite Minestrone Soup recipe.

15. Ndole

This Cameroonian dish from my homeland is my favorite way to eat greens. It’s a peanutty and spinach-y dish that is healthy, too. You can see in the picture that it is wonderful with plantains and shrimp.

16. Nigerian Fried Rice

The Chinese aren’t the only ones that make mouthwatering fried rice. This hearty and spicy dish with shrimp is perfect as a meal all by itself, and it’s an ideal way to get veggies into your family’s diet.

18. Nicoise Salad

A very satisfying salad with a combination of tuna, hard-boiled egg, tomatoes, veggies, and a wonderful balsamic red wine dressing. Highly indulgent and filling; not your average boring kind of salad!

19. New England Clam Chowder

A creamy white hearty soup made with fresh tender clams, potatoes, and smokey bacon. Definitely a great comforting dish in the cooler seasons!

20. Napa Cabbage

21. Noodles

23. Nectar

24. Nougat

That deliciously sweet syrup that flowers produce. I prefer to let the bees have it and enjoy the honey they make. Then it goes in my tea, on my pancakes, or replaces sugar in some of my favorite desserts. It goes really well with mustard in my Honey Mustard Dressing

25. New York Cheesecake

New York cheesecake is reported to be a Jewish invention, and aren’t we glad? Any family dinner or festive party can only get better with this dessert that starts with N. This quick and easy recipe is so worth it.
