Serving and Storage Instructions
Pound cake is best stored at room temperature for an incredible melt-in-your-mouth experience. It will last in an airtight container for a couple of days. If you think it will be around longer than that, you can refrigerate it for four or five days. And yes, you can freeze it. When you’re ready to dig into this deliciousness, let it thaw overnight in the fridge. You can pull it out of the fridge to bring it to room temperature about half an hour before serving.
The Pound Cake Recipe Roundup
- Sweet Potato Pound Cake What better way to use up your leftover sweet potatoes during the holidays? This sweet potato pound cake recipe with its fabulous fall flavors of cinnamon, ginger, and cloves will wow your family and delight your guests. This simple and delicious dessert with holiday spices will satisfy your soul with every bite. Homemade whipped cream or a Sweet Caramel Glaze takes a slice of this pound cake is over the top. And, of course, a cup of coffee or a Pumpkin Spice Latte is simply the icing on the cake.
- Southern Pound Cake This Southern classic pound cake is sweet, tender, and full of taste. The crusty outside and the soft inside make it way more delicious to enjoy. And the best thing is you can make this delicacy with just eight simple ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen. This cake becomes extra tasty when paired with a sweet caramel drizzle over whipped cream, then topped with Candied Pecans. Oh yeah! Since this luscious dessert is a holiday specialty, it goes really great with a Baked Turkey Breast, Roast Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and Green Bean Casserole.
- Sour Cream Pound Cake Think of the drool-worthy deliciousness of pound cake taken to the next level with the tartness of sour cream. And, of course, the extra fat never hurts. Since its flavor is more neutral than, say, Strawberry Pound Cake, it goes perfectly with everything. The sour cream is always a perfect match with fruit. Topping it with my Tropical Fruit Salad and a dollop of Homemade Whipped Cream is the perfect summer get-away. If you want something with a holiday flair, try it with caramel sauce and pumpkin butter. Yum!
- Chocolate Pound Cake Have you ever experienced a chocolate craving that just refused to go away? Diet or not, this chocolate pound cake topped with a creamy chocolate ganache is the way to satisfy the most insistent of cravings. And it’s super simple with a relatively short list of ingredients. A slice of this fantastic cake only gets better with a Chai Tea Latte or Blended Thai Iced Coffee. It’s also the perfect finish to Chicken Lasagna and a Greek Salad.
- 7 UP Pound Cake This classic Southern comfort food is famous for more than just using 7UP to get a good rise. It’s also the traditional comfort food to take to your friends when their life has taken a not-so-pleasant turn. So put the coffee pot on and get ready to be a true friend. A scoop of orange cream ice cream is the perfect match for this luscious cake. But it’s not always easy to find, so try my Rum Raisin Pineapple Ice Cream for the next best thing. And obviously, you can’t miss out on the Homemade Whipped Cream and pot o’ coffee.
- Strawberry Pound Cake What better way to beat the chill out of a cold winter day or celebrate the coming of spring than with a pound cake loaded with strawberries? Oh, and the strawberry glaze takes it beyond comfort food into the absolutely divine. This incredibly rich cake is a heavenly finish to a holiday Slow Cooker Ham, Rosemary Roasted Potatoes, and Sautéed Brussels Sprouts. A dab of lemon curd wouldn’t hurt either.😉 Lemon and strawberries go surprisingly well together.
- Peach Cobbler Pound Cake Imagine your favorite peach cobbler in the form of a pound cake. Oh, the cinnamon, nutmeg, and just a touch of bourbon amps up the spring vibes. Yum! The mouthwatering chunks of peaches and vanilla cream glaze are a match made in heaven. A tall glass of Southern Sweet Tea is the ideal beverage with this cake. Both the drink and the cake travel well to the family picnic with Pulled Pork, Easy Coleslaw, and, my favorite, Ranch Potato Salad.
- Cream Cheese Pound Cake This pound cake is sure to amaze your family and guests. There’s no need to tell them how super easy it was to make. With the cream cheese for a luscious mouthfeel and the mint-lime glaze for the perfect zing, they will all think you’ve become a super chef. Yay! Besides a pot of coffee, this pound cake pairs extraordinarily well with an ice-cold Mango Margarita. It’s the mint-lime glaze that does the trick. A Strawberry Daiquiri has the same effect. And, of course, you just have to top it off with a huge spoonful of Homemade Whipped Cream. Drooling!
