This can also be a great finger food for upcoming tailgating events or game nights or potluck or Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas holiday parties! I have used store-bought puff pastry for this recipe, but feel free to use a homemade version. The store-bought version made my life so easy, and I could skip the process of preparing pastry dough and then spending several anxious moments worrying about the outcome. It took me about 30 minutes to prepare these danishes (inclusive of baking time), but the entire batch disappeared in less than 30 seconds once served 🙂 This is not a joke, I am sharing this from my own experience. Last weekend we had guests visiting us last minute for coffee. My calendar was all booked, and I had very little time to prepare something for our guests. But luckily, I had a sheet of puff pastry in my freezer and some fresh apples from Farmers’ market. I just put everything together, and delicious snacks were ready in no time. My guests not only loved the recipe but also tried making these snacks at their home and called me back, telling me how much they loved it.
The recipe below is super simple to make, especially when you have some frozen pastry sheets on hand. You can definitely tweak and modify the recipe to your liking. You may substitute other fruits for apple, or make a decadent chocolate danish or even drizzle some simple icing just before serving! These danishes pair extremely well with coffee, and they are often served during breakfast buffets at restaurants. These can also be served as a light after-meal dessert. So no matter what version you prepare, make sure to click some photos and tag me on social media (Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, GooglePlus) - and you bet I will be super happy and proud of you!

Preparation time: 30 minutes + thaw time Serves: 9 cheese danish Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry Sheets - 1 Apple thinly sliced lengthwise - 1 Gouda cheese slices - 5 Sugar - 4 tbsp Egg - 1 Step I
Follow the instructions on the pastry sheet box to thaw the sheet. Whisk an egg and keep it aside. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Once the puff pastry sheet is thawed, unfold it on a lightly dusted working surface and roll it to a 12-inch by 12-inch square using a rolling pin. Cut them into 9 squares of 4-inch * 4-inch each.
Step II
Cut each cheese slice into half. Place this at the center of each pastry square. Now place 2 to 3 apple slices on top of the cheese and sprinkle some sugar. Fold 2 opposite corners to meet at the middle of the pastry and pinch them together. Brush the pastry with egg wash and sprinkle some more sugar over the pastry. Applying egg wash gives it a beautiful golden color upon baking. Place each one of these on the baking sheet and bake for about 20 to 25 minutes or until it is golden brown in color. Apple Cheese Danish is now ready. Serve and enjoy.
