Sweet and spicy chicken wings

The chicken is marinated first with simple ingredients, baked to perfection until crispy, and then tossed in sweet and spicy Asian-flavored sauce. I highly recommend double or triple the recipe if you are making this for parties. I make more sauce than needed and store it in the refrigerator. These chicken wings will disappear very fast.

A Superbowl appetizer

The Superbowl party is incomplete without chicken wings. Chicken wings are the most popular among super bowl dishes. A survey shows that a record-breaking number of wings are eaten on Super Bowl Sunday alone. If you are planning your Super Bowl party, then check this out. Here is a complete list of popular Super Bowl food.

Ingredients

For Asian chicken wings marinade

Use chicken wings (both drums and flats), salt, corn flour, and baking powder. Do not skip the baking powder. It draws the moisture out of chicken to get that perfect crispiness.

For the sticky, sweet, and spicy sauce

You will need butter, green chile for Asian flavor, hot sauce like franks, chili garlic sauce, red chile powder, brown sugar, soy sauce, and some fresh herbs like spring onions or cilantro.

Step-by-step instructions

Asian chicken wings marinade

In a bowl, add chicken wings, salt, corn flour, and baking powder and toss until combined. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour for best results. You can even keep it overnight.

How long to bake chicken wings at 400?

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Place the marinated chicken wings on a wire rack over the baking sheet and bake it for 40 minutes. Flip all the wings after the first 20 minutes of bake time.

How to make Asian sauce for chicken wings?

Melt butter in a pan. Add hot sauce, chili sauce, chile powder, brown sugar, and soy sauce, and simmer for 5 minutes. Add cilantro and mix. Switch off the flame. I generally prepare more sauce than needed as we love our wings to be saucy. You can also dip your veggies or serve them even with the main course or simply store them and make another batch of wings if desired.

Toss before serving

In a bowl, add half of the prepared sauce. To this, add all the baked chicken wings. Add more sauce over the wings if you like them saucy and spicy. Toss until everything is combined. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Serving suggestions

Chicken wings taste great on their own or with a chilled beer. To make it a meal, you can also serve it with a simple salad, onion rings, fried rice, creamy potato salad, crispy roasted potatoes, and guacamole.
