Rum Party Punch

With July 4th just around the corner, it’s important to start planning your Independence Day menu. I like to keep the food and planning simple around the holidays… It’s easy to get carried away and stressed out, isn’t it? Try to focus on 1-2 main dishes like a great burger recipe, and maybe an easy chicken recipe. Then select 3-4 simple side dishes that can be made ahead and do well sitting out for long periods of time. Don’t forget dessert! And finally, plan drinks for both the kids and the grown-ups. I’m partial to our Lavender Lemonade, and POG Punch as non-alcoholic options. Yet for the 21-and-over crowd… You must, you must, you must make this Bahamian Blaster Party Punch Recipe this year!

Bahamian Large Batch Cocktail

This summery large-batch cocktail was inspired by a recent trip Lt. Dan and I took to the Bahamas with friends. We took our boat each day and island hopped, looking for the best snorkel spots, the best conch fritters, and, of course, the best Caribbean cocktails. One particular day we discovered a popular beachfront hangout called Pete’s Pub, famous for their “Blaster” rum punch. The punch was kept in huge cooler dispensers and made with 3 fruit juices and six (6!) types of rum. It was dangerously divine and went down quicker than you could say Bahama Mama. I couldn’t get enough of the Blaster punch, so fruity and refreshing. I also couldn’t get much out of the bartender, as to the exact ingredients. All she would tell me is that the Blaster included grapefruit juice. I came home determined to mix and test rum punches until I developed my own copycat version called the Bahamian Blaster Party Punch.

Rum Punch Ingredients

Bahamian Rum Punch is a simple dump-and-stir recipe, that is fabulous for all your summer gatherings. The recipe makes a huge 2-gallon batch and can be kept refrigerated for several weeks, so you can use it at more than one party… If there happens to be any left after the 4th of July. You’ll need:

Pineapple Orange Juice Pink Grapefruit Juice (If you can’t find pink grapefruit juice, just use the regular kind. The color will be off but it will still taste great!) Grenadine

Ingredients Continued

Bahamian Blaster Party Punch is nearly half rum. So it’s a heavy hitter, even though it tastes like a sweet summer breeze. You are going to love it!! The rum you’ll need is:

How to Make Party Punch

This recipe could not be any easier. Ready? I recently served Bahamian Blaster Party Punch at our neighborhood Caribbean-themed potluck, and it was a huge hit! It’s sweet and tangy, perfect for serving with a paper umbrella in a relaxed summer state of mind.
