How to Make Avocado Toast with Egg

First, slice the bread and toast according to your preferences: You can use a toaster, toaster oven, or standard oven set at 400 degrees F. Meanwhile, cook your eggs however you like in a pan or skillet:

Hard-boiled Scrambled Poached egg Fried egg Sunny-side-up or over easy

Next, cut the avocado in half and remove the pit. Then cut each half in half, to create 4 equal sections. Use a fork to smash each avocado section, and then smear the avocado mash flesh over each piece of toast. Add the cooked egg on top of the avocado-covered pieces of toast. Then add your preferred toppings and sprinkle on spices in order of the heaviest to lightest ingredients. Enjoy the toast right away.

Top Recipe Tips

Use ripe avocado for the best flavor and consistency. Choose perfect avocados that are dark green, and have a bit of softness when you give them a gentle squeeze. Make this recipe with your favorite gluten-free bread for perfect avocado toast without gluten! Don’t under or over-toast the bread… It needs to be sturdy enough to hold toppings, but not so crunchy it crumbles apart when you bite in. Aim for a nice light, golden brown color. Don’t overload! It’s tempting, but try to not pile on too many toppings in a large heap. You still want to be able to bite in without knocking everything off. But, should you overdo it a tad, absolutely feel free to use a fork and knife … No judgement here! Follow proper layering protocol. Mashed avocado always goes on the bottom to keep the toasted bread dry from any wet-ish ingredients. Then add the eggs, followed by the lighter ingredients. Drizzle a sauce or honey on last. Enjoy these avocado toasts right after assembling. You can prep many of the toppings in advance, but make the toast fresh and mash the avocado to order.
