About Peach Fritters Recipe

Peach is one of our favorite fruits, and we love them in any form - fresh, canned, frozen, or as compote/jam. Whenever this fruit is fresh and succulent and on sale, I buy them in big batches. I have tried almost all the recipes that I can do with this fruit. I love making apple fritters at home. But with our kids’ activities, we hardly get time for anything. So for a change, we recently got some apple fritters from a local bakery. We had a very bad experience. It’s either too sweet, too oily, or not fresh. So we decided not to buy store-bought fritters anymore and instead make them at home. As I had some ripe peaches in my pantry, I prepared a small batch of peach fritters and glazed it. It turned out so good with no compromise in taste and texture. It was a big hit! My husband loved it so much that on his way back from office the next day, he got home another big batch of fresh peaches and asked me to prepare peach fritters again, while he took care of the kids in return 🙂 I bet these will become a favorite in your house too. These fritters can be deep-fried in oil, baked, or air fried. Once they are fried and have cooled down a bit, drizzle a simple vanilla-sugar glaze over them, or dust them with powdered sugar, or roll them in fine granulated sugar or cinnamon sugar. The options are endless. Make these bite-size peach fritters at home, and I am sure you will never buy the store-bought (bakery) ones, plus there won’t be any left. So make sure you reserve some for yourself before you serve. These are also great food items to make for your 4th of July potluck parties. Whenever I attend office potluck parties, I like to make my famous patriotic berry pie, America’s favorite Apple Pie, and a batch of delicious apple fritters and these mouth-watering peach fritters so that everyone, including kids, gets to try something different and delicious. You can serve these for breakfast, snack or as a dessert. I highly recommend you to try out this recipe, specially if you are peach lover like us.

Ingredients

Peaches - fresh, frozen, or canned is the main ingredient in the dish. All-purpose flour provides structure and texture to the fritter and helps to create a delicious, crispy exterior and a tender interior. Sour cream and Whole milk add richness to the batter. Sour cream can be substituted with yogurt. Baking powder is the leavening agent, making the fritter light, airy, and fluffy. Egg helps in binding the batter and making it rich. Sugar and Salt help in balancing the sweetness and saltiness of the batter. Adjust their amounts as per your preference. Cinnamon powder adds a warm earthy aroma to the fritter, and melted butter gives a nutty aroma. Vegetable oil is used for frying.

For the glaze

Confectioners sugar, Milk, and Vanilla extract (or peach juice) are whisked to obtain a glaze. See the recipe card for a complete list of ingredients and their amounts.

Steps to Prepare Peach Fritters

Step 1: Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan on a medium flame for frying, while preparing the batter. Step 2: Prepare the batter. In a large bowl, whisk together all wet ingredients together. To this, add the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined. Do not overmix! Add chopped peaches, and fold them into the batter. Step 3: Drop 1 or 2 heaped tablespoon of batter into oil and fry till they are golden brown on both the sides for about 2-3 minutes on each side. Drain to paper towels. Step 4: In a bowl, add confectioner’s sugar, milk, vanilla extract/peach juice and whisk it so that there are no lumps. Drizzle this glaze on each fritter. Peach Fritters are now ready. Serve and enjoy.
