Dragon fruit drink

Dragon fruit, also known as pitaya, pitahaya, or strawberry pear, is available in Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. It is white or pink flesh with tiny black seeds. You can use any color to make this drink. This dragon fruit drink is sweet, tart, and exotic. This pink drink is refreshing and our family’s favorite. You can even make smoothies, salads, or desserts with it. It pairs very well with mango, kiwi, banana, passion fruit, pineapple, etc.

Ingredients

Dragon fruit: Use pink or white colored dragon fruit when they are ripe. It will be mildly sweet. Sugar: Sweetener added. Lemon juice: Balances the flavor. Check out the recipe card for the full list of the ingredients.

Step-by-step instructions

Nicely wash the dragon fruit. Cut into half and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. Discard the skin. Add the flesh of dragon fruit, lemon juice, sugar, and water in the blender or mixie jar and blend until smooth. Adjust the water to achieve the desired consistency. Add ice cubes to the serving glass. Pour the juice. Serve and enjoy.

Tips and Variations

Use coconut water instead of regular water. Feel free to use honey or agave nectar instead of sugar. Parsley or cilantro and a piece of ginger can be added for additional flavor. Adjust the amount of water based on how thick or thin you like the juice. Add mango, berries, or banana slices to make a thick dragon fruit smoothie.

Mix this dragon juice with sparkling water and add mint leaves to make it a refreshing summer mocktail. The juice tastes best when served fresh, but it can be kept in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days. This drink tastes best when served cold, so make sure the fruit and water are cold when you start.
