Oh hello favourite breakfast! I often used to make Baked Oats in an attempt to get organised and meal prep for the week ahead, but then I got out of the habit. The need for some morning comfort food has brought me right back to these little pots of joy. This healthy breakfast recipe is PERFECT for batch cooking and making ahead of time, meaning you get a great start to the day without the time or effort it takes to make a hearty breakfast. Nothing sets you up quite like a delicious bowl of berry goodness and some slow release energising oats.
Why you’ll love this Baked Oats recipe
⭐️ Made with store cupboard ingredients ⭐️ Filling and healthy (no refined sugar) ⭐️ Basically feels like eating flapjack for breakfast! I am always ALL about making ahead and batch cooking where possible for the days that we struggle for time, and that’s when I knew a recipe for Baked Oats was needed. A lot of baked oats recipes involve banana to bind the mixture together, but I knew I wanted something that had no banana, was relatively sugar free (we do add 1 tsp of honey but you can even leave this out if you like) and was naturally sweetened by berries, because we can use fresh or frozen. I also prefer the texture of oats and milk together, and the outcome of baking them is lovely and soft and spongy. The dollop of yoghurt on top also gives a creaminess you just can’t beat. When I get the chance, I make up a batch for the week so I know that’s breakfast taken care of and I don’t have to think too much!
Baked Oats Ingredients Notes
Oats – I have tested this recipe SO many times and find that rolled oats work so much better than whole oats. If you don’t have any to hand, you can put whole oats into a food processor and pulse them until they break down (try not to overdo this as you will end up with oat flour instead!) Berries – You can use fresh or frozen berries. If you are using frozen berries, you may need to cook the oats a little longer to ensure they are heated through. I like to choose mixed berries, or just blueberries or just raspberries Milk – Whole or semi-skimmed is fine, or a dairy alternative milk is too
Can Baked Oats be reheated?
Yes! To reheat, pop them in the microwave and heat until they are hot throughout.
Can you eat Baked Oats cold?
This baked oats recipe is so easy you can make plenty in advance, bake in the morning or simply eat cold. For those super organised people you can even make, bake and freeze! Simply cook them in an airfryer-safe container for about 15-18 minutes at 180C.
