How to Make Fish Seasoning

Combine all the ingredients, garlic and onion powder, celery seeds, black pepper, paprika, allspice, ground ginger, mustard, cayenne pepper, and salt, in a bowl or jar. Stir the ingredients or shake the jar (after putting the lid on😉) so that everything thoroughly mixes. Store in any airtight container (or even a ziplock bag) and use as desired.

Use this fish seasoning in any fish recipe. Yes, literally any fish recipe. Just shake it onto all sides of the fish before cooking. Here are a few of my favorite recipes in which I usually add a generous helping of fish seasoning: You can also turn this into a wet marinade by adding a few teaspoons of olive oil and dousing the fish an hour or two before cooking. To be honest, this seasoning is super versatile because it’s even great on chicken and pork dishes! 😋 To store fish seasoning, keep it in an airtight container in the cupboard, out of direct sunlight. But it’s best not to keep it in the fridge as the humidity can dull the spices’ flavor. 

Where to Use Fish Seasoning

I love how this seasoning mix enhances flavor, especially of fried fish. Try it with fish and chips or Southern fried catfish, and you’ll see what I mean. That said, this seasoning can work well with dishes other than fish! Try it on oven-baked pork chops, seasoned rice, or fried shrimp. It’s a fabulous all-purpose seasoning mix.
