As is the case with all the best Mediterranean cuisines, a traditional Greek Salad (Horiatiki) is actually very simple, but it’s often the combination and freshness of the ingredients that make it so special.  It’s also the dressing blend, and I’m making my favourite (one I’ve always made), with olive oil, red wine vinegar, lemon juice and garlic.  After many trips to Greece, I’ve found that the most traditional Greek Salad recipes only ever seem to include dried oregano, although I do like to add fresh mint to mine if I have it, as it adds some extra freshness. Our dressing here is not only quick and easy, it’s also made with mainly store cupboard ingredients that you can reach for without much prior prep, so it’s a real convenient salad option too.  I love to enjoy this kind of salad as a simple lunch on its own in summer, or as a quick side dish – and always when cooking at BBQ for friends.

⭐️ No soggy lettuce leaves in sight! ⭐️ Can be enjoyed on its own or as a side dish One that we saw trending on TikTok was the method of chopping our salad into very tiny pieces. If you have the time (or the inclination), go for it. Otherwise, go for the quicker, more traditional way of chunky chopping. The two methods of chopping is either to use a sharp knife OR buy a salad dicing and slicing gadget like this one, which saves so much time (see the results below). In the freezer This isn’t suitable for freezing. It would be far too watery and soggy after defrosting. ⭐️ A great quality, sharp knife will honestly change your cooking life. This is one of my favourites that I use. The difference when cutting ripe tomatoes is unbelievable. ⭐️ When it comes to a chopper, this one is my favourite and is a salad gamechanger!  ⭐️ Adjust the ratio of vinegar to olive oil to suit your own taste.
