Janmashtami festival
Krishna Janmashtami, also known as Gokulashtami, Krishna Ashtami, or Krishna Jayanthi, is an Indian festival celebrating Lord Krishna’s birthday, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. Every year, this day is celebrated on the eighth day, called the Ashtami of the Krishna paksha in Sharavan month. Gokulashtami is celebrated in different forms around the world, depending on regional and cultural customs. In the simplest way, Hindus celebrate Janmashtami by fasting, praying together with Tulsi Archana, preparing sweets, and offering in the form of naivedyam and prasadam. This celebration is followed by dahi handi (mosaru kudike) the next day in Maharastra, Udupi, etc.
