Indian sharbat
Mohabbat ka Sharbat or Pyaar Ka Sharbat is a love drink. It is made using rose syrup (rooh afza), many watermelon cubes, and chilled milk. There is no exact recipe; adjust all the ingredients to your liking. This drink is very popular during the holy months of Ramadan and Eid. The best part about Indian sharbat is that it takes less than 5 minutes to prepare, is best for summer or any gathering, and is kid-friendly. Ingredients
Milk: Full-fat milk boiled and chilled for best results. Watermelon: Also called tarbooz. Use fresh and ripe, sweet ones for best results. Rose syrup: Homemade or store-bought rooh afza. Sugar: Granulated sugar is used. You can adjust to taste. Other optional ingredients are basil or sabja seeds soaked in water, ice cubes, and rose petals. Step-by-step instructions
Preparation
Add sugar and hot water in a bowl and mix until sugar dissolves. Keep this aside. (this step and sugar is optional, but doing this way helps the sugar dissolve faster) Cut the watermelon into bite-size pieces.
Rose watermelon drink
Add the rose syrup to a bowl of chilled milk and mix until combined. Taste to check the sweetness. Add the sugar syrup only if needed for desired sweetness and mix. Finally, add the watermelon cubes and mix well. Pour into servign glasses. Serve chilled, and enjoy.
Tips
To make this drink vegan, use any non-dairy milk in the recipe. Adjust all ingredients to taste. If you like mild-sweetened drinks, simply skip the sugar. The sweetness from rose syrup and watermelon cubes is sufficient. Take this drink to the next level with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Any leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 1-2 days. Feel free to puree and add 1 cup of watermelon juice to this drink if desired.
