What are overnight oats?
Overnight oats are raw oats soaked in liquid to get a soft porridge-like mixture. Instead of cooking oats, you can eat them raw by soaking them in milk or any other similar liquid. It is one of the coolest ways to eat oats without much effort. It saves so much time in the morning, keeps you on a healthy eating track, and tastes so good. Otherwise, I use oats to prepare an Indian-style porridge or cutlets.
Basic Overnight Oats Recipe
Let’s start with the basic overnight oatmeal. All you need to do is combine oats with either milk/yogurt or vegan milk. The idea is to soak oats in liquid to soften them. And then, you can sweeten the oatmeal with any natural sweeteners like honey, brown sugar, or maple syrup. This is the most straightforward basic overnight oats recipe.

My Tried & True Tips
Firstly, keep in mind that the ratio of soaking liquid to oats should be 2:1. A too-liquid-ish or thick oatmeal is of no good. It has to be of dropping consistency. The oats have a bland taste hence require some sweetener to boost their flavor profile. Always add the sweetener according to your taste preference. Last, but not least, after soaking and right before eating, make sure to stir the oatmeal nicely. So that you get great taste and texture in each bite.
