Not long ago we had a group of friends over to our house. On a whim, I poured a gallon of fresh apple cider in the slow cooker, along with a cup of caramel flavored syrup and a spoonful of good quality sea salt. And do you know what? I had an instant hit on my hands, with the kids and adults alike! Salted Caramel Apple Cider is SO GOOD guys. Tart apple flavor with a rich buttery salted caramel essence. The kids sipped Salted Caramel Apple Cider with warm smiles and a twinkle in their eyes. And the grownups… Well, they doctored it up with brandy and cinnamon moonshine. Either way, it was fabulous. How To Make This Hot Apple Cider Recipe
Ingredients
fresh apple cider caramel flavored syrup as used in coffee drinks, such as Torani sea salt
Step by Step Instructions
For Adults – You can add in some of your favorite brandy or bourbon! For Kids – You can doctor this with a cinnamon stirring stick.
Do I have to add in the salt?
No, you can leave out the salt and have a caramel apple spiced drink, similar to what you would get at Starbucks. However, the salt delivers that quintessential “salted caramel” flavor.
How long can I store it?
This will keep in the fridge for 7 to 10 days and it is best served warm/hot. Just warm it up in a pot on the stovetop, or for a minute or two in the microwave.
Can I use caramel sauce instead of caramel flavored coffee syrup?
Yes, you can. However, traditional thick caramel sauce does not have quite the same intensity of flavor as a coffee syrup, and will thicken the cider a bit.
