Coconut Recipes
I am from the coastal region of Karnataka, where coconut is a key ingredient used on a daily basis for cooking. Most of the traditional family recipes use fresh coconut from rice to curry like chane gashi (chickpea curry), spicy potato and mixed vegetable curry (batate vagu), coconut rice, etc. Have you heard of the popular South Indian idli chutney combo or dosa chutney combo? This chutney is made using coconut as the star ingredient. I have many savory coconut recipes you can make for lunch, breakfast, or dinner, but today’s post is all about coconut desserts. Coconut sweets that are no bake can be made using fresh, dry, frozen shredded coconut flakes, and some using coconut milk. You may have to adjust the moisture content when using desiccated coconut for the fresh coconut.
Coconut sweets using fresh, frozen, or dry coconut
Use shredded or grated coconut flakes to make these simple sweets. Coconut balls are also called ladoo or laddu in India. Make this using sugar, jaggery, condensed milk, caramel sauce, dulce de leche. We have four different types of burfi (barfi) sweet using coconut as a key ingredient. Barfi is a no-bake Indian fudge prepared using simple ingredients available in any grocery store. Melt in mouth and easy to make, healthy dumplings with coconut. Healthy desserts you can make with fresh, frozen or dry shredded coconut. These are gluten-free and can be easily made vegan too. Some traditional and seasonal coconut recipes are made using fresh coconut during festivals in India.
Coconut Milk Dessert Recipes
Desserts made using coconut milk are the best. The flavor and creaminess it gives to the dessert is fantastic. A total crowd-pleaser. You can use canned coconut milk or homemade coconut milk for these sweets.
