CHECK HERE FOR IDLI DOSA BATTER RECIPE My  family’s favorite among all is appo prepared using rice. This is soft and tasty with full of flavor. It gets over in no time. Make sure that you prepare it in plenty. Don’t hold back on ghee / melted butter while cooking appos because this enhances the flavor.

Preparation time : 20 minutes Soak time : 1 to 2 hour Rest time : 1 hour Serves : 36 small appos Follow me on instagram and tag me with #cookwithkushi so that I get a chance to see all the recipes you make and give it a  ♥. Rice - 1 cup Ripe Bananas - 3 Jaggery  / Gur - ¾ cup Poha / Flattened rice - 2 tbsp Grated coconut - 3 tbsp Semolina / Sooji Rava - 1 tablespoon (optional) Baking soda - ¼ tsp Cardamom powder - ¼ tsp Salt - pinch Melted butter - for cooking appos

Wash and soak the rice in water for about 1 to 2 hours and drain them. I have used 3 small riped bananas. (you can use 1 large banana) Grind the soaked rice, 2 bananas, jaggery, poha, coconut adding little water to form smooth paste. Transfer this to bowl. Add semolina or sooji rava (optional),  baking soda, cardamom powder, pinch of salt and mix well. The batter should be of medium-thick consistency. Let the batter rest for 1 hour for better result. You can also cook them immediately. Chop and add the remaining banana to the batter and mix well. Heat appe pan or paniyaram pan and add butter or ghee into all the holes. Pour the batter on each holes, cover with the lid and allow it to cook in medium flame. When it is cooked from one side turn and cook on the other side adding butter till its golden brown on both the sides. Repeat the process for remaining batter. Sweet Rice Appo is ready. Serve hot with ghee and enjoy.

Tip:

Depending on the sweetness of the banana vary the amount of jaggery. You can also substitute jaggery with brown sugar or sugar. If you do not have appe or paniyaram pan, you can prepare this on ebelskiver pan or also cook dosa or pancake from same batter.
