How to Make the Best Grilled Chicken Wraps
Step 1 – Grill the Chicken Breasts and Prep Veggies
Preheat the grill to medium heat. Meanwhile, sprinkle the chicken pieces liberally with lemon pepper seasoning and salt. Cook the chicken on the hot grill for 5 minutes per side. Then move them to a cutting board and allow them to rest for several minutes. This gives the juices inside time to settle throughout the meat as the temperature cools. Now every bite of cooked chicken will be perfectly moist! Meanwhile, trim the romaine lettuce leaves to be 3 inches shorter than the flour tortillas. Chop the tomatoes and avocados into ½ inch cubes. Once the chicken has cooled, chop it into ½ inch cubes as well. Pro Tip: The chicken, lettuce, and tomatoes prep work can be done a day or two ahead of time! Keep each component stored separately in airtight containers. But chop avocado fresh when ready to assemble the wraps.
Step 2 – How to Assemble a Chicken Wrap
Lay a tortilla out on a cutting board, and place the trimmed lettuce leaves in the middle of the tortilla, side by side. Sprinkle half an ounce of alfalfa sprouts over the lettuce leaves, followed by a good drizzle of Caesar dressing. Then arrange approximately 1/4 cup of chopped chicken down the length of one lettuce leaf. Then arrange diced tomatoes and avocado evenly over the lettuce leaves. Lastly, sprinkle some shredded cheese over the top of the tomatoes and avocados. Get the Complete (Printable!) Easy Grilled Chicken Wrap Recipe Below. Enjoy!
Step 3 – Tips for How to Roll a Wrap
You want to have a good 1-2 inch area of empty space around the exterior of your fillings. And also be sure to not overload the toppings too high! Use both hands to fold the ends of the tortilla over the short ends of the lettuce leaves. Then starting on one long edge, gently roll the wrap like a burrito, tucking in the ends as you roll. The final product should be one equally portioned cylinder with the ends completely tucked inward. Lay the wraps seam-side down on the cutting board to keep the grilled chicken wraps from unrolling. Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make a total of 8 wraps. Cut each wrap down the center, at an angle. This makes them easier to bite into… And it gives them that authentic sandwich shop look! Either wrap in plastic and refrigerate for later, or serve immediately.
Recipe Variations
This grilled chicken lettuce wrap recipe is terrific to customize! Here are a few ways you might want to change things up:
Seasonings – Spice up the grilled chicken with a simple combo of garlic powder, cumin, and paprika. Or use bold seasoning blends like our BEST chicken seasoning, buffalo chicken seasoning, blackened chicken seasoning, or adobo seasoning before grilling. Tortillas – Use flour, whole wheat, low carb, almond flour, or spinach tortillas. Protein – Add cooked chopped bacon, fried chicken pieces, cooked rotisserie chicken, or our shredded chicken. Veggies – Include sliced olives, pickled peppers, fresh bell peppers, red onion, corn, and cucumber slices… Just about anything you want! Cheeses – Swap shredded cheddar with shredded colby or Monterrey jack, pepper jack, crumbled goat cheese, or crumbled feta. Dressing – Instead of Caesar you can use ranch dressing, thousand island, or blue cheese dressing.
